- I went to Germany September 2006, delivering Uri's son Willie to his new
home with Thomas and Angela Lenk. While there I had a visit with Ariane Failer
of Mamnouna Salukis. I have admired her dogs for years and was thrilled to
finally have the opportunity to meet Ariane and see her salukis in person.
My visit was everything I expected and more. It was a wonderful surprise
when Ariane let me take home Mishmish, I am very
happy to have this beautiful and sweet girl join us at El Riyah.
We were devastated to lose Mishmish to lymphoma in December 2011.

Mamnouna
salukis have been very successful on the race track and in the show ring in
Germany.
Mishmish's father Mamnouna's Chesem Ceyran was very
successful on the race track. During his racing carrer, he was unbeaten
except by his litter mate Mamnouna´s Cappar Chayjam. Often, the two
brothers passed the goal while the rest of the other saluki participants still
were in the 4th curve. Wherever they started, there was no chance for other
salukis to win. Chayjam and Ceyran had several speed records.
Their sisters were Mamnouna´s Cheschmesch and Mamnouna´s
Chaharazad Shirin.
Wherever Shirin started, she won the races, she ended her
career unbeaten and had several racing records. Behind her at the 2nd place
always was her little litter mate Mamnouna's Cheschmesch, who won several
races and titles, when Shirin did not start.
Mishmish's mother is Mamnouna' s el Maymouna. She had
her racing license, and was very fast, but the owner did not start her.
Amir al Sulaimanyja was born in Kurdistan. He belonged to
members of the German embassy in Baghdad, when the 1st gulf war started. When
Amir was walked, he and his owner often were in danger, because bullets flew
next to them. The German government evacuated its citizens, and Willy
Brand, the ex-chancellor organized an aircraft where the German refugees were
brought by bus. When the passengers were asked to embark, they did not allow
the dog on board. But the owners sat on their suitcase, and declared, not to
move one single centimeter, until they get the permission to take Amir with
them on board. Amir became a little sensation in Germany, he was
very elegant, and really fast on the race track.
Delsadi al Safi is unbeaten in the speed
record ranking list. No saluki bitch
has ever gained so many titles for beauty and performance combined and on a
race track. Her two litters, the Mamnouna's B and C's won many
titles for beauty and performance. She went BIS
in conformation shows.
Karun Marivan was imported in a sealed lorry during the war,
and it cost a lot of bakschisch for the driver, to bring him from Persia to
Iraj Sattarzadeh to Hamburg. It was very dangerous, and if the soldiers or
border officials would have heard the dog, they would have opened the lorry,
shot the dog and the driver, because it was forbidden for the shiites to
accept a dog.
Mamnouna' s Afsanee won several racing titles, beauty and
performance titles, and shows. She went BOB and BIS.
Bagheera Mumtachir ar rih was very successful in the show
ring, coursing and racing. She was the dam of the very successful Mamnouna A
litter for beauty and performances, and was mated to the very charming COO dog
Shetab.
